A Response to the Lost Tomb of Jesus
Why this page?
The “documentary” version is on Discovery Channel and the DVD is being sold
The “documentary” challenges what people know about Jesus
Some may believe the "facts" presented or have difficulty sorting facts from speculation, especially when speculation is given the appearance of fact
The church has a responsibility to present Jesus to the world that people may come to faith in Him
Thoughts to ponder:
The producers propose that perhaps Jesus' resurrection was a “spiritual” event, not a physical one. Then why does the Scripture spend so much time telling us about Jesus after the resurrection? Jesus invites Thomas to touch him. He eats and drinks with his disciples to demonstrate that he is in fact, physically present. See John 20; Luke 24:28- Jesus takes and breaks bread. 39- Jesus invites them to touch him. 41- Jesus eats in the presence of his disciples to show he has a body. The point of all of this is to demonstrate that Jesus is alive, and not just in some “spiritual” sense.
What sets Jesus apart from a David, Moses, Buddha, Muhammed or other religious leader is that he is alive, they are dead.
The resurrection of Jesus is in itself a promise of the resurrection that will come on the last day.
